Shaping the Future: My Journey Training Deloitte Cyprus' Next Generation of Partners

There are training programs that end when the final presentation is delivered. Then there are experiences that stay with you long after the last session. The Accelerated Partners Excellence (APEX) Program at Deloitte Cyprus was one of those experiences.

Over the course of three months, I had the privilege of working with a remarkable group of newly appointed partners, supporting them as they transitioned from being exceptional technical professionals to becoming strategic business leaders.

The program was designed to accelerate leadership readiness through a practical learning journey covering consultative selling, executive communication, networking and influence, strategic decision-making, market positioning, business planning, and a final leadership strategy capstone.

But what made this journey special was never the curriculum alone.

It was the people.

From day one, I was impressed by their openness to challenge their thinking. Despite already reaching one of the highest positions in the firm, they arrived with genuine curiosity, humility, and an eagerness to learn. They embraced every assignment, every discussion, and every moment of feedback as an opportunity to grow.

As a trainer and executive coach, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing professionals unlock capabilities they didn't fully realise they possessed.

Throughout the program, we explored how partners can create value beyond technical expertise. We worked on developing trusted client relationships, communicating with greater executive presence, making strategic decisions under uncertainty, building stronger internal and external networks, and transforming ambitious ideas into actionable business plans.

Each module encouraged participants to immediately apply what they had learned to real business challenges, creating an experience where learning became action.

Yet, if I'm honest, the learning was never one-sided.

Every conversation, every debate, every presentation, and every reflection taught me something as well. Their diverse perspectives, industry knowledge, and willingness to share real challenges enriched the program far beyond what any training manual could achieve. It reminded me that the best learning environments are built on mutual respect and shared discovery.

One of the most inspiring moments came during the final capstone presentations.

Watching each participant confidently present strategic business plans, challenge assumptions, and think like enterprise leaders reinforced why investing in leadership development matters.

The transformation wasn't only visible in their presentations—it was evident in their confidence, their strategic thinking, and the way they approached complex business conversations.

This experience also strengthened something I have believed for many years.

The future of Cyprus' business ecosystem is bright.

These partners are advising CEOs, entrepreneurs, boards, and business owners across industries. Their decisions will influence organisations, shape strategies, and contribute to the growth of our economy.

Knowing that they are committed to continuous learning, collaboration, and creating meaningful impact gives me tremendous optimism about where Cypriot business leadership is heading.

Leadership is not about having all the answers. It is about remaining curious, embracing change, and helping others succeed.

That is exactly what I witnessed throughout the Accelerated Partners Excellence (APEX) journey.

I am grateful to Deloitte Cyprus for trusting me with such an important initiative and to every participant for their energy, commitment, and willingness to step outside their comfort zones.

While I may have been the facilitator, I leave this experience having learned just as much as I taught.

And that, to me, is the hallmark of every truly successful learning journey.
